To all Local 6 members working for the City and County of San Francsico and the Municipal Transportation Agency.
It is the position of IBEW Local 6 that the Mayor's attempt to reduce your work week from a 40 hour work week to a 37.5 hour work week, representing a 6.25% wage reduction, is a mandatory subject of collective bargaining. Further, it is, in our view, a violation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the City Charter, and the Civil Service Rules.
We will be pursuing all legal remedies available to us to correct this problem. We are continuing to meet with the other Public Employee Committee Unions, and their lawyers. Soon we intend to meet with the Mayor's Office to discuss this issue and to review other possible alternatives.
Prior to your receiving an offer of part time employment we will have a prepared response ready, when and if that time somes.
