On January 24th, IBEW Local 6 sent notification to all members working for the SFMTA and the City & County of San Francisco of a Special Called meeting to discuss and vote on a tentative agreement for a two-year extension of the current MOUs.
As I communicated in previous updates, San Francisco is facing uncertainty with regard to its federal funding. With shifting priorities at the Local, State, and National level, IBEW Local 6 believed that an extension of the existing MOUs would provide both stability and an increase to Base Pay that would be difficult to achieve later.
A Special Called meeting was held on February 7th at IBEW Local 6, 55 Fillmore Street. The members present voted to accept the Tentative Agreement to the existing MOUs at both the City and the SFMTA. It should be noted that the increases reflected below qualify as pensionable compensation.
The terms agreed to are as follows:
- Effective July 1, 2017, represented employees will receive a base wage increase of 3%;
- Effective July 1, 2018, , represented employees will receive a base wage increase of 3%, except that if the March 2018 Joint Report, prepared by the Controller, the Mayor’s Budget Director and the Board of Supervisors’ Budget Analyst, projects a budget deficit for fiscal year 2018-2019 that exceeds $200 million, then the base wage adjustment of 3% due on July 1, 2018, will be delayed by six (6) months and be effective the pay period including January 1, 2019;
- Term of extension is two years, July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019.
Thank you to all who took time to participate in the process.
